SUN VALLEY -- Eight military amputees won't soon forget their winter vacation in Idaho.

Sgt. Dan Regin was among eight military amputees who hit the slopes of Sun Valley this week.

Several Sun Valley charities made it possible for them to spend the week there to learn how to ski.

It's a small thank you to these men for their sacrifice.

“What we hit was an anti-tank mine,” said Sgt. Dan Gilyeat, U.S.M.C.

Sgt. Gilyeat lost his leg in Iraq, but he did not lose his spirit.

“We've just been going higher and it's getting easier, now I’m just hauling down the side of the mountain,” said Sgt. Gilyeat.

I must say you are all an inspiration in so many ways to a great many people. It is wonderful to see such courage, positive attitudes, healing and bonding. What a shining example you are to others who need to be lifted up.

Thank you for all you do,

Cody & Debra Oakland
