WATERVLIET -- A fundraiser for a Capital Region soldier who was badly wounded in Iraq served as a reminder Sunday of the real cost of war.
Army Pfc. Marissa Strock, the 20-year-old Lansingburgh resident who is working to recover from her wounds at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., received financial and moral support from scores of supporters gathered at McIntyre's Pub in Watervliet to watch the Daytona 500 and raise money for a good cause.
