Friends say injured soldier is improving after leg amputated

MINOT, N.D. - An Army captain who was seriously injured in Iraq last week is improving after his right leg was amputated, a family friend says.
Capt. Daniel Gade, 29, underwent surgery Monday at a military hospital in Washington, D.C., said Julie Smesrud, principal of Our Redeemer's Christian School in Minot.
