MINOT: Friends say injured soldier is improving after leg amputated
Associated Press
MINOT - An Army captain who was seriously injured in Iraq last week is improving after his right leg was amputated, a family friend says.

Capt. Daniel Gade, 29, underwent surgery Monday in a military hospital in Washington, D.C., said Julie Smesrud, principal of Our Redeemer's Christian School in Minot.

"It had to be done," Smesrud said of the amputation. "Since doing that, he is improving and his prognosis is much better."

A Web site for Capt. Daniel MacArthur Gade is at www.caring-bridge.org/dc/danielgade.
